Endangered Species Spotlight

The Red-Cockaded Woodpecker

The Red-Cockaded Woodpecker (Dryobates borealis) is one of North America's most endangered birds — and Boiling Spring Lakes, North Carolina is home to one of the largest remaining populations in the world.

These remarkable birds carve their nest cavities exclusively in living longleaf pine trees, a habitat that has been reduced to less than 3% of its original range across the American South. saveabird Inc® is committed to educating our community about these extraordinary birds and the urgent need to protect their remaining habitat.
